Material Quizzing for primary schools
Project: M21 | 2024
In recent years, the integration of information technology into primary education has become increasingly common. However, research indicates that this integration often yields no significant improvement in learning outcomes. There is a need for technology that is not just adapted, but specifically designed for primary education. Design companies have begun tailoring to primary education, yet there much more to explore, as I am doing now. I am designing for communal activities in the classroom. Furthermore, I try to understand the design space holistically, like the difficulty of the sales process of the educational system, to come up with an innovative yet realistic design.
SCIO is a quiz response toolkit for students the foregoes the use of (battery powered) personal devices. It allows students to give five unique answers (like A, B, C, D, E) using either QR or RFID cubes. This design specifically helps learning consolidation (practicing). The very affordable QR and RFID cubes are student-craftable. Additionally, the RFID cubes can offline store all kinds personalisation to increase student motivation.
